Learn about The Gambia

Gambia is the smallest country on mainland with a population of two million and a total area of 11,300 square kilometer, about the size of Connecticut. The official language in Gambia is English, as it was colonized by Great Britain. English is a second or third language for a lot of Gambians, as there are over ten ethnic groups in Gambia, each with their own spoken language, including Fula, Wolof, and Mandinka.  Because English is a second language for most Gambians, the adult literacy rate is around 55%.
