
Mbama Care Foundation, in partnership with the Gambian Women’s Lives Matter movement, will be holding a peaceful march against the alarming rate of maternal mortality in The Gambia. The event aims to alert the government through the Minister of Health and other relevant stakeholders on the dramatic increase in maternal deaths in the country. The event would also witness the handing over of a position paper to the Minister of Health detailing some of the strategies organizers believe could be adopted to curb the worrisome trend of maternal deaths in The Gambia.
The peaceful march would be graced by expectant mothers, women affected by the country’s maternal health crisis, and families of victims of maternal mortality in The Gambia. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020, and would start from the Serrekunda, West Park Junction to Alliance Francaise along Kairaba Avenue. The program starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 12:00 p.m.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event shall be held under strict COVID-19 health guidelines. Participants attending the event would be issued facemasks and T-Shirts. Everyone is invited.
