Gambian Women’s Lives Matter Movement

The Gambian Women’s Lives Matter movement was spearheaded by Mbama Care Foundation USA, Inc. founders, Matida Bojang and Mballing Cham. This movement was founded in response to the growing issue of maternal and infant mortality in The Gambia.

On September 17th, 2020, Mbama Care Foundation USA, Inc. founder, Matida Bojang, created a Facebook frame that reads “Gambian Women’s Lives Matter” with the following caption:

“The dysfunctional healthcare system in Gambia has resulted in many devastating losses. Getting pregnant is a death sentence for many women in Gambia. We must attack this issue from all angles; from increasing access to prenatal and postnatal care, transportation, as well as just spreading awareness about this issue. I urge you all to add this frame to your profile picture to amplify the voices of the many victims of this injustice.”

The frame went viral and ended up being used by tens of thousands of people on Facebook. We were so happy to see so many people using the frame because it brought awareness to this growing issue.
